Time & Distance Cannot Erase... An exhibition shown at the Medicine Hat Museum & Art Gallery (now Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre) featuring works by Christine Burchnall, Deborah Forbes, Rory Mahony, Gary Newton, Colleen Schindler-Lynch and Ed Zelenak. Conceptually supporting the exhibition's title, the idea of a time capsule and permanency were employed. The catalogue was vacuum packed and ‘labeled’ with an edition number, exhibition title and packing ‘time’. Once the package was exposed, a surprising although non permanent colour transformation occurs when the reader interacts with the pages of the catalogues. The use of a thermo ink allowed for portions of the copy to appear and disappear enabling the viewer to dwell upon issues of permanence. With limited funds available for the reproduction, a solution of no collation or binding resulted in a 40” eight page accordion fold leaflet. |
